Understand expressive and conceptual uses of community and tribal art.

Net tying
Introduction to traditional tools class. I chose to highlight this technique because I enjoyed the process from carving the guide to tying the net itself. I think it was important to my development as an artist because it forced me to take it slow and just accomplish one square at a time.

Carved stone fetishes
Lapidary class. I chose my two small carvings because they were my first hand carved stones that I made. The owl and the tiger have powerful meanings and I enjoyed the designs. I gave each one of these to my children to keep with them. It is a tedious but relaxing process and I plan to keep it up and have stones set aside to carve in the future.

Tanned Deer Hide
hide tanning class. When I started this art process I started with silversmith and hides. In my mind the two will be forever linked. I hope to be able to tan more hides that people have discarded after their hunts in the future. I plan on one day using hides as canvas to paint motifs over or possibly using hide as material to make other artifacts like clothing or beading.
