Dec 2022 – Feb 2023

Normally I wait until the quarter is done to upload anything; however I am here, It is the beginning of December, and I feel like keeping busy. I want to create a page here for winter stories that I can take down when the snow melts but if you don’t see it I either didn’t get to it or there is no snow in the valley. I hope to work on small format pastels again. I want to carve wood block plates for printing but we will see if I press them. I dunno, mixed media stuff. It is cold and I am happy to be inside and out of the silver shop. Hopefully develop more as an artist, work on the human form. As always we will see how it shakes out at the end of February. I am truly thankful to be here today making art and enjoying life with my family.

In general I don’t post art I don’t like on here. Even if I recognise the artistry isn’t spectacular I might put something here if it is especially meaningful to me. I don’t think this is either good or meaningful, however I was put in an off way after the last graphite piece. It took me five days; I don’t know how many hours but I know it was too many scratching away at any image, especially of that subject. I had to burn through this piece quick to cleanse my system and I wasn’t happy with the outcome but I’m still showimg them for now. These pretty petals might not stay up here, though I doubt if I forget to take them down any big difference will be made.

My bets are that it goes to complete ruin or needs a substantial amount of further construction to repair. I could always balk and bring it inside soon. we will see.

It is hard or me to put something I love out in the cold, we do it too often.

I had thought the fall was tough but the last few months have been so much worse. This winter has been so hard. This art journal helps me deal with a lot of things in my life. I wish I had to deal with less tragedy. We lost a family member and friend. There is nothing I can say or do that will make it ok.

To round out the winter, my cat then got caught in a spring trap and had to be put down. So watch out for traps Montana. We live in wildlife adjacent areas, you never know what trappers have set around your area.

There isn’t anything more I want to say here and now

Rest in Peace Amanda, we miss you.
